Sew Weekly: Tiger Stripes Pin Up
Why HELLO! I finally found these photos on my work computer, they're from the Pin Up week at the Sew Weekly. We'd not even really moved into our new home when we took these photos, so it was so much fun exploring the garden and finding all the gorgeous flowers!
The playsuit is just gorgeous, but I haven't had an occasion to wear it yet. The weather in Melbso has been heaps up and down, and IF it stays nice, I may wear it on the weekend.
It's a 1970s or early 1980s jumpsuit, that I cut off the legs to make it summer appropriate, and it has an elastic waistband. The fabric is from the Remnants Warehouse in Marrickville (or Alexandria - I forget which shop now) and I've had it for AGES as I've waited around for the perfect outfit.
Cute little heart buttons on the back too:
Too much fun!
Hope you're having a nice week! Are you getting ready for Christmas or the Holidays? We're not big gift givers in our family (however it's taken a few years to get into that mindset) so I'm not making anything special. I have only a few weeks of Sew Weekly left, and then I'm not sure what I'll do.
The Big Hair News for me: I'm heading to the hairdressers tonight, and actually will pick a new hair colour. I'm not sure what yet! I'm swinging between white, strawberry blonde, blonde, apricot and other shades of lighter orange. BUT I DON'T KNOW! What do you think?

Touring Outfit #1
Yep, on the road darlings. Workwise, it's pretty busy but I'm really trying to get a lot of stuff sorted either tomorrow or Wednesday and then hopefully it'll be less busy and more fun. I had a glitch today that I *just* fixed right this second. So I'm EXTREMELY happy after being incredibly worried and on edge a bit!
Here's a photo of me, on Friday night before my work colleagues and I went on a dusty adventure! I did some large pin curls after a swim and they worked out kinda 80s afterwards.

So! I've got 2 weeks in Melbs, and a plethora of peeps to meet up with for work and for fun times... so hopefully I'll drop you a few lines here and there now I'm in the hotel for a while!

The sweat shop a la Veronica Darling is officially OPEN!
Hee Hee, I have a few odd jobs for people, and as we're heading up north on a Christmas Holiday this Saturday, thought I'd spend today to get them done... I got a headstart yesterday:
A friend of my Husbie's found this paisley purple material (and quite a lot off it!) at the op shop recently, and since her new loungeroom theme is purple I made up two cushion covers to match the store bought purple one.
Someone loves helping. (Not so helpful this morning though, she ripped up a cushion I was going to use for our fold out sofa. Oh puppy fun! Although all the cushin innards will become stuffing for my crochet friends now. So perhaps she was slyly helpful)

And here's where I'm at with my sewing for fun! I've decided that I'm going to make a dress and a skirt in the same material, in a bunch of fabrics and then go to market. I KNOW I keep saying I'll go to market one day, but I've starting feeling that without a challenge of a dress a day or 100 Outfits, I think I need some other motivation. And my wardrobe really can't handle more clothes! It's fully burst open and is all over our bedroom floor at the moment!
What kind of inspiration or motivation do you need to get you creating? I'm thinking of fun washed out summer things (instead of your typical primary bold colours for summer), and have got my tumblr up and running with loads of colours/things/fash to show where I'm heading! I'm going to listen to a LOT of Vampire Weekend to get in the mood! I believe it's kinda a New England vibe, but I'm going to find my Australian-ness in this somehow!

One last memory before my sewing date...
Here's another little photo of my brother and I:

Matching woolies! Mum will probably know, but I'm not sure who made them for us, hopefully Mum! I can't believe how funny my brother is! He's so cute and little! He's such a man man now, as he's 29 years old and just got engaged!
I loved flicking through my photos, and especially this one above, shows how many handmade clothes we had. I have a feeling that my kidlets (of the future) will be photographed exactly the same as my brother and I here. I just have to practice more baby clothes, cause my proportions are a little weird for tshirts at the moment, but I've got a bit of time as our babies won't appear for a couple more years!
Yesterday I went to the Remnants Warehouse and got some stuff (fabric in the washing machine now) and have a plan to sew and sew and sew ALL day. I'll take Doggie Darling for a walk now, and then head right into my darling sewing room.
xoxo

24/7 - Day Eleven - AKA Outfit #77
Hey! A brainwave from my lovely Husbie: Why don't you take the laptop to the pub and use their free wifi internerds?
YES! I got home from work today, and felt a bit Monday grumbily (yes, even Positina Turner's like me get down in the dumps) and Husbie explained that our original internetz peeps could not make our mobile service go any faster (for weeks it had become so so so slow, to the point you'd have to walk away and then come back to finish what you're doing). So they decided to waiver all cancellation and payout fees cause they couldn't fix the problem in our area, great hey? Usually you have to go through phone call after phone call to get something fixed.
But the catch was, they canceled our service right away. Yep, so cause we had only just started inquiring about iinet, it's going to take 7-10 working days (YEPS) to get connected. So I was down in the dumps, and had a few pics to post, plus another garment to finish today (as I'm still keen to finish my challenge off yeah?) and that's when Husbie's brainwave sent me here. Where is here? At the pub, with Aerosmith, Jimmy Barnes and Heart all on the jukebox. YEAH! As I started writing this post, I had to stop because the lyrics in 'All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You' were so awfully distracting! Google friends, google the lyrics if you need to remember. I certainly don't want to hear that song again for another 10 years.
Anyways, the point of me being here at the hilarious free wifi place is to post Outfit #77, check out the pics first:

It's a recent op shop purchase both pattern and fabric. The dress pattern is pretty recent, and was godawful pastel pink florals, and I think I got it from Brunswick Savers on my recent holiday down in Melbs. The fabric is also from somewhere recent, maybe Tempe Tip? Not sure... but it's totally garish and light and flowy and so hence the ruffles and frill are all lovely and floaty. There's a slight zebra pattern on the fabric too, but it's like a metallic red on the normal red.
Anyways, be prepared for loads more red things, because I put the red threads in both my machines, and felt like a total SWEET SHOP* sewing lady cause now the red threads are in, I'm sewing up all my red stash. I need to save as much time as possible!
*as opposed to sweat shop of course

Wardrobe Refashioning for a summertime picnic!
This afternoon I finished off this funny refashion. I have to post the 'BEFORE' picture because it is way too daggy:

It's a great 1980s mummy dress, it would have been very light for summer as it's really great cotton. But that style (and size) was just dying for a refashion, and like I mentioned in a previous post I really wanted to keep the weird embroidered birds. They make me laugh so much!
So I gave it a slight 1960s bodice and kept the skirt as is.

What do you reckon? I made it a size 10 (for the Wardrobe Refashion's fashion parade) so it's a little big in the bodice for me... but after it comes back after the fash parade, I think I can alter it to fit. Husbie just loves it... so might be hard to give away!
Not bad!
